Scanning Your Photos

We specialize in the repair, restoration and preservation of your damaged and faded family photos. Do you have an old, faded or torn photograph that you would like repaired, restored and maybe even colorized? Photo Doctor 911 is here to restore and preserve your cherished family photos. Over time, old photographs simply fall apart and fade away, but you can prevent that from happening by contacting us today.

A high quality, high resolution scan is essential for a successful photo restoration. Before you send us your scanned photo, please make sure that you follow the guidelines below.

General Guidelines

Here are some general tips that apply to all photo scanning:

  • If you want us to print your restored photo at it's original size without any enlargement, scan your photo at 300 ppi/dpi.
  • The format you choose to save your scan depends on the size of the print you want. JPEGs (.jpg) are sufficient for photos that are to be printed at 4" x 6" size or smaller. Anything larger should be saved as a TIFF (.tif) file.
  • Do not scan your photo with any special effects or filters provided by your scanner software.
  • Use your scanner software's cropping tool to scan only the image, not the entire white scanner bed.
